Kukicha is a unique green tea made of the stems, twigs and stalks of the tea plant. After organic tea leaves are harvested, they are steamed and rolled in small batches into a Sencha green tea; then stems, twigs, and stalks are sorted out and roasted at a medium temperature. The resulting flavor is nutty, creamy and slightly sweet. Grown and harvested by a small farmer association in a special isolated area in Shizuoka, Japan - perfect for organic farming. They have been harvesting and processing tea for four generations and are among the earliest certified organic tea farmers in Japan.
